EXPERIENCE PELION
Embrace the essence of our magical mountain.
THE BEACHES
Amanita is fortunate to be within a short distance from some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece on the Aegean coast. From the trendier to the more remote, they all have secrets waiting to be discovered, including small caves with their own strip of sand, small secluded bays, streams and waterfalls.
EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES
In ΑΜAΝΙΤΑ, we offer you experiential activities, in a homey atmosphere. Get to know Pelion’s ‘Poor people’s kitchen’ with its simple, natural, yet delicious tastes and its strong link to foraging and the cultivation of aromatic herbs, greens and vegetables in small gardens.
FARM TO TABLE
The Pelion orchards were well known all over Thessaly for their variety and the quality of their products. This was due to the rich earth of the mountain and the abundant rainfall. In old photos we can see that the whole mountain was tended to and cultivated.
NATURE
During the last decade, when we walk along the paths and the forest of our favorite mountain looking for mushrooms, sprouts, herbs and forest fruit, we often cross paths with orchids, the princesses of the floral kingdom.
MOUNT PELION
Mt. Pelion is one of the most fabled of Greece’s “ancient” mountains. Its location in the middle of the Greek mainland, its sheer beauty, its wealth of natural resources and its association with the sea (both the Aegean and the Pagasetic Gulf) made it widely known even in antiquity.
TSAGARADA
Eastern Mt. Pelion is the “wild” side of this charming mountain. Forested mountain peaks here stretch right down to the Aegean Sea, where the rocky coastline conceals some truly enchanting beaches. The mountain sides are verdant with dense beech forests around the peaks, chestnuts and other wild and domesticated trees in the mid zone and olive trees closer to the sea.
AWARDED BREAKFAST
At the AMANITA Guesthouse, breakfast forms a key part of the Mt Pelion Experience that we want our guests to enjoy. Our breakfast is based on the principles of “Mediterranean diet” as well as seasonal and locally grown ingredients.
